Home Instead Senior Care, is teaming up with local area retail locations and various hospitals, nursing homes and senior residences, to sponsor Be a Santa to a Senior and provide presents to seniors who otherwise might not receive a gift this holiday season and to help stimulate human contact and social interaction for seniors who are unlikely to have guests during the holidays. Christmas trees in a variety of locations in the community will display ornaments with the first names of financially challenged and/or lonely seniors and their respective gift "wish list." Holiday shoppers select an ornament from the tree, buy an item on the list, and drop off the unwrapped gift along with the ornament attached. Home Instead Senior Care enlists helpers in the community to collect, wrap and distribute the gifts to seniors a week before Christmas. If you would like more information on the Be a Santa to a Senior program, please contact Susan Phelan at 773-784-4024. To read the full press release click here.
