The mission of the Business Partners, the Chamber for Uptown, is to provide comprehensive support services and access to technical assistance programs to businesses and economic investors located in and serving Uptown. The assistance furnished by the Business Partners will insure that Uptown businesses have the opportunity and tools to thrive, and that the needs for goods and services in the community are met.

FREE Business Development Workshops from City


The City's Department of Business Affairs and Licensing (DBA) offers a series of FREE business education workshops throughout the year that continue to provide Chicago's business community with information on a wide array of business related topics to help them succeed and grow. Workshops are open to new and existing business owners, are held twice a week on Wednesdays and Fridays at DBA's City Hall Office, 121 N. LaSalle Street on the 8th floor. 2-Year Business License Information


The City of Chicago recently announced a new 2-year business license beginning February 2007. Benefits include streamlined renewal process, increased convenience, shorter wait times, decreased compliance costs for businesses. For the complete facts in a 5 page pdf, click here.



Sidewalk Cafe License and Application


Businesses with a valid Retail Food Establishment License may apply for a Sidewalk Cafe Permit to serve food outside their restaurant, on city sidewalks. Applicants must first hold a valid Retail Food Establishment License and be approved by the Alderman. Click here for a pdf application or call 312-747-9034 for more detailed information.



2007 Business & Community Guide


The 2007 Business & Community Guide was unveiled at the Annual Dinner on Thursday, October 5. It contains information about our members and is a great resource for all things Uptown--history, architecture, trivia, business resources, and photos--something for everyone in the community.
