Ribfest 2011 Gallery

The 2nd Annual Windy City Ribfest in Uptown brought out the true connoisseurs of the art of barbecuing ribs, briskets and pulled pork. Over 15,000 festival attendees dug into some serious barbecue dishes over the course of the three day event held July 15th through the 17th. After tasting the many different barbecue styles and techniques offered by 7 different rib vendors (some as far away as Australia and Texas), people were invited to cast their vote for their favorite rib vendor. After all the votes were counted, Texas Thunder came out as the winner and will automatically be invited to return to the Windy City Ribfest in Uptown in 2012.

Music was also served up with ribs and cold beer. The renowned band from New Orleans Cowboy Mouth got the crowd jumping on Friday evening and Rusted Root was the featured headliner band on Saturday evening. Sunday night's performance by disco diva Linda Clifford and DJ Georgie Porgie wrapped up the weekend celebration.

Uptown neighbors, their guests and visitors enjoyed taking in the great food, music and the company of friends and family during the festival. The Windy City Ribfest in Uptown may highlight the expertise of master grillers, but the festival is more so a celebration of the diversity and vibrancy of Uptown. We wish to thank our many dedicated and enthusiastic volunteers, our community partners and sponsors. We also want to thank our Uptown community for coming out and making this a successful neighborhood festival and a new Uptown tradition!
